I work in video, sculpture and live-art using every-day objects and materials. I’m fascinated by the ways we communicate with each other: particularly the words, pauses, tiny gestures and hesitations, that convey or obscure meaning – and affect understanding and rapport. I am interested in the ambiguities of familiar situations and often focus on moments where there is a mismatch between what is said and how it is said. My starting point is often an overheard phrase or an observed gesture. I want to make art that people can relate to, that reflects on the layers of meaning that shape everyday communication.
