Brush (2017)

Produced and directed by Kate Stobbart. Filmed by Toby Lloyd.

A silent video showing the hair of a resuscitation mannikin being stroked. The film was back-projected onto sheets of paper used to cover hospital examination couches. It screened at:

Newcastle University (2010), Centre of Contemporary Art, Tbilisi, Georgia (2011), Les Salaisons, Romainville, France (2011), 113 Dalston Lane, London (2011), The Public, West Bromwich (2011), XL Gallery, Newcastle (2025)

“A medical resuscitation-Annie doll normally used to train people in emergency first aid is instead stroked and tended to like a sick child.  Any drama associated with televisual and cinematic medical trauma is removed and we are left with a quiet study on care and rescue” The Public, West Bromwich

Photo of a person watching a film that is projected onto 3 large sheets of tissue paper that are wafting slightly. The film shows a person sat behind a medical resuscitation mannequin, slowly brushing the mannequins hair.
